WCJB TV20/CW
WCJB TV20/CW presents the 6th Annual Jr. Weathercaster Contest. The contest is open to kids 8-13 years of age. Registration begins at 12:30pm.
The contest will be held 1-3pm. The first 15 kids to register will participate. Top three place scores receive prize packs. First place winner will be shown on WCJB TV20 News with Chief Meteorologist Bill Quinlan. All participants receive a certificate and a VHS copy of their weathercast.
The WCJB TV20/CW Weather Team Bill Quinlan, Mike Potter and Lindsay Milbourne will be on hand at 12:30-3pm to greet people and judge the contest.
National Weather Service, Jacksonville
NWS Jacksonville will be presenting some Hurricane History for the area and presenting some of the graphical products we use during hurricane situations.
IFAS/Cooperative Extension
University of Florida Extension and IFAS offer a wide variety of disaster information resources. At our table, visitors will find samples of these resources, including the Disaster Handbook, which includes over 350 fact sheets and other publications that deal with every kind of disaster. UF/IFAS also produces several videos that can help in dealing with pets and large animals in disaster and in coping with stress. Most of this information is also available on our disaster Web site: http://disaster.ifas.ufl.edu.
Volunteer Center / D.A.R.T.
Come by the Volunteer Booth and learn:

The Red Cross
The Red Cross will have hourly drawings for small scale Red Cross items and an end of the day drawing for a Family Size 1st Aid Kit! Come by the table for assorted children?s coloring books on disaster preparedness, and an interactive and informative event for kids! The Red Cross will also have brochures on Disaster Preparedness on preparing your disaster kid, purifying water, etc., and a sample Disaster kit to look at.

Coast Guard Auxiliary
The USCGAUX 15-5 of Gainesville will have a table set up with boating safety tips. Also on this table you will find Federal and State regulations in regards to boating in the State of Florida. Since children are our main goal to attract we will have various safety coloring books to hand out. Our children are our future and educating them will also educate the adults.
